In 1326, Rana Hammir Singh, a descendant of the Guhila dynasty, recaptured Chittorgarh and established the Sisodia dynasty and independent kingdom of Mewar in Rajputana, India. After the fall of the main Guhila dynasty to Alauddin Khilji in 1303, Hammir Singh, who came from Sisoda village, managed to overthrow Maldev Songara and reclaim the ancestral lands. He became the first ruler to use the title "Rana" and founded what would become one of the most significant Rajput kingdoms.
