In 1951, Mickey Mantle made his major league debut with the New York Yankees, beginning an 18-year career with the team. Mantle became a prominent switch-hitter, winning three American League MVP awards (1956, 1957, 1962) and the Triple Crown in 1956. He appeared in 12 World Series, winning seven, and holds World Series records for home runs (18), RBIs (40), and runs scored (42). He hit 536 career home runs before retiring in 1968.
