End of the Great Depression

1941-1942 · 20th Century
Economics

The Great Depression, which began with the stock market crash of 1929, finally ended in 1941-1942 as the United States entered World War II. The massive wartime production and military mobilization following the attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7, 1941) created millions of jobs, boosting industrial output and effectively ending the economic crisis that had persisted for over a decade despite New Deal programs.
