HMS Warrior Launched: First British Ironclad Warship

HMS Warrior, the first iron-hulled, armor-plated warship built for the Royal Navy, was launched on December 29, 1860, at the Thames Ironworks and Shipbuilding Company in Blackwall, London. The ship was built in response to France launching the ironclad La Gloire in 1859, and represented a revolutionary advance in naval warfare technology.
