First English Translation of One Thousand and One Nights Published

The first English translation of One Thousand and One Nights (also known as Arabian Nights) was published anonymously in 1706, based on the French translation by Antoine Galland. This translation, known as the Grub Street edition, introduced these Middle Eastern and Indian folk tales to English-speaking audiences and had a significant influence on Western literature and culture.
