Philosophy

Plato, one of the most influential philosophers in Western thought, died in Athens at the age of 80. He was the founder of the Academy, the first institution of higher learning in the Western world, and a student of Socrates. His philosophical works, including "The Republic," "Symposium," and "Apology," laid the foundations for much of Western philosophy.
