In 322 BCE, Aristotle died in Chalcis on the island of Euboea at the age of 62. He had fled Athens the previous year following anti-Macedonian sentiment after Alexander the Great's death. Born in Stagira in 384 BCE, Aristotle was one of the most influential philosophers in Western history, a student of Plato, and tutor to Alexander the Great.
