Signed on October 18, 1748, the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (Aachen) ended the War of the Austrian Succession. Britain, France, and the Dutch Republic signed the main treaty, with follow-up implementation treaties signed at Nice by Austria, Spain, Sardinia, Modena, and Genoa. The treaty restored conquered territories, confirmed Maria Theresa as Empress of Austria, and guaranteed Prussia's retention of Silesia.
