The Sungir site is a significant Upper Paleolithic archaeological site near Vladimir, Russia, dating to between 32,050 and 28,550 BC. Discovered in 1955 and excavated by Otto Bader, it contains remarkable burials with thousands of ivory beads, jewelry, weapons, and other elaborate grave goods. The site features burials of an adult male and two adolescents placed head-to-head, representing some of the earliest evidence of complex mortuary practices in human history.
