Israel–UAE Peace Agreement

August 13, 2020 · 21st Century
Politics

On September 15, 2020, Israel and the United Arab Emirates signed the Abraham Accords at the White House, formally normalizing diplomatic relations. The UAE became the third Arab state to recognize Israel, after Egypt in 1979 and Jordan in 1994, and the first Persian Gulf nation to do so. Israel agreed to suspend planned annexation of parts of the West Bank. Bahrain and Morocco subsequently joined the normalization framework within months.
