Apple released the first iPhone on June 29, 2007, after Steve Jobs unveiled it at Macworld on January 9. Priced at $499 and $599 with a two-year AT&T contract, it featured a 3.5-inch multi-touch display, Safari web browser, and a 2-megapixel camera. The device eliminated the physical keyboard standard on smartphones of the era. Apple sold 270,000 units in the first weekend and reached one million sales within 74 days. Total first-generation sales reached 6.1 million units before discontinuation in July 2008.
