Henry VIII's Reign begins

Henry VIII became King of England on April 21, 1509, upon the death of his father Henry VII. At 17 years old, he was the first monarch in nearly a century to inherit the throne peacefully. His coronation with Catherine of Aragon took place at Westminster Abbey on June 24, 1509. His reign (1509-1547) would transform England through religious reformation, establishment of the Church of England, and significant political changes.
