Culture

Around 3100 BCE, the Susa III phase (also known as the Proto-Elamite period) emerged in southwestern Iran. This early civilization developed a sophisticated administrative system with its own writing script, advanced pottery, and metallurgy. Centered at Susa, it laid the foundation for the later Elamite kingdom and represented one of the oldest urban civilizations in Iran.
