The Battle of Kunersdorf was fought on August 12, 1759 near Frankfurt an der Oder as part of the Third Silesian War and the Seven Years' War. It was Frederick the Great's most devastating defeat, where his army of approximately 50,900 Prussians was defeated by a combined Allied force of 41,000 Russians under Pyotr Saltykov and 18,500 Austrians under Ernst Gideon von Laudon. The battle resulted in catastrophic losses for the Prussian army, with estimates of up to 19,000 casualties.
